Klipsch has announced the updated versions of their Fives, Sevens and Nines active speakers by adding; built-in streaming, Dirac Live room compensation, Onkyo amplifiers and the new “II” designation. These powered/active speakers support one amplifier per driver with DSP processing for crossover processing. The range supports; Google Cast, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, and are Roon Ready. Dolby Atmos processing is also part of the MK II upgrade, with the Nines II adding DTS:X support. The Sevens II and Nines II also come with a limited license for DIRAC Live room compensation that will adjust their bass response below 300Hz in order to optimise their rooms acoustic performance. Each model is available in a; Walnut, Ebony or Red Oak finish and all remain compatible with Klipsch’s existing KS-series stands in 24″ and 28″ heights.

Each model features a redesigned top panel with a metal volume wheel / source selector plus a new backlit remote for low-light operation. The one-piece BMC baffle design is sad to reduce resonance due to increased density and rigidity, while its curved radius claims to widen soundstage dispersion.

The Fives II remain the entry point with a 5.25″ Jet Cerametallic mid/bass driver that’s paired with a 1″ titanium tweeter mounted to Klipsch’s 90° x 90° Tractrix horn that provides a system SPL of 103dB at one metre and frequency response of 50Hz to 25kHz (±3dB). The rear panel connections include; HDMI eARC with CEC, an MM phono input, line-level analogue, TOSLINK, USB-C audio for PC and Mac hook-ups, and USB-A for storage devices. There’s also a subwoofer output for increased low end. With all processing and amplification in the primary speaker, left/right channel speaker connection is via the included 4-metre analogue cable.

The Sevens II mid/bass driver increase to 6.5″ while maintaining the same tweeter configuration. Maximum output is now 106dB SPL with bass extension reaching down to 39Hz. The connectivity matches The Fives II but adds a calibration mic input for the Dirac Live functionality. The Sevens II also introduce optional wireless left/right channel linking streaming at 48KHz, or stay wired with 24bit/96kHz.The new Klipsch Connect Plus app handles source management.

DTS:X decoding joins Dolby Atmos for additional format support, and like the Sevens II, wireless channel linking is still available.
