This latest bookshelf speaker from Klipsch completes their Reference range that was originally launched back in 2022. Fitting in above the R-40M and R-50M bookshelf units, the affordable and compact R-60M is said to offer a “big, full-range sound” from its mid-price design. They are available in a black textured vinyl finish.

The R-60M is the largest bookshelf/standmount in the Klipsch Reference series and should handle movies and music equally well.

It features a 1″ (25mm) aluminum ‘Linear Travel Suspension’ tweeter with Kapton suspension designed to minimize distortion for more detail at the top end. Aluminum was chosen for its lightweight yet rigid properties. This HF driver is then coupled to an updated and larger 90°x90º Tactrix horn that is said to have better “directivity control over a larger bandwidth of frequencies, resulting in a more accurate sound stage.”

The bass reflex design uses a 6.5″ (16cm) bass driver that is of a spun-copper thermoformed crystalline polymer (TCP) design and is augmented by a single rear-firing port. According to Klipsch it employees technology from Klipsch’s Reference Premiere series, using a steeper cone angling for “a smoother response” and “improved accuracy and transparency”. The resulting speakers have a quoted 50Hz-21kHz (± 3dB) frequency response, 93.5dB in-room sensitivity, and an 8ohm nominal impedance

Finally, the 0.79″ (20mm) thick MDF cabinets contain improved bracing to help reduce cabinet vibrations, hidden fasteners to hold the low-profile magnetic grills, an edge-to-edge horn, and are finished in scratch-resistant black textured wood grain vinyl.
