JVC DLA-RS1100/NP5 4K D-ILA Projector – First Look

During CES 2022 JVC announced a higher-end 4K projector at a more ‘affordable’ price when compared to their latest three 8K laser offerings.
JVC describes the new DLA-RS1100 or DLA-NP5 as an “entry level” model to its latest top-tier of three 8K D-ILA laser projectors. However, this model only supports a 4K resolution (4096×2160) and uses their conventional UHP bulb (NSH-25W), rather than their BLU-Escent laser light source. It is basically a stripped down DLA-RS2100 with similar video processing, the 65mm 17 element all-glass motorized zoom lens and 48Gbps HDMI 2.3 connections supporting up to 4K120P.

- New 0.69 inch 4K D-ILA (4096 x 2160) device x 3
- 1900 lumens (uncalibrated)
- 40,000:1 native and 400,000:1 dynamic contrast ratios
- HDR10+, Frame Adapt HDR and Theater Optimizer
- Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) support
- 2x HDMI (48 Gbps, HDCP 2.3) inputs
- Renewed Clear Motion Drive supporting 4K60P (4:4:4)
- Motion Enhance technology to reduce residual images and blurring
- Low Latency Mode for faster response for gamers
The price reduction of approximately $3,000.00, when compared to the DLA-RS2100, (MSRP $9,999.95) may help put this new model within the financial reach of those on a tight budget. You still get the latest narrow pitch pixel panels used by all the top end models, improved HDMI connectivity and lag for gamers, good brightness, award winning contrast and upgraded video processing to help with motion processing and HDR rendering.
For those struggling at this price, there is still the native 4K DLA-NX5 @ MSRP $5,999.95 to be had.
