HARMAN Luxury Audio has recently introduced the JBL 4305P Studio Monitor Powered Bookshelf Loudspeaker System that features both high-resolution streaming and prosumer connectivity. This is their first powered compact model in a new range of consumer Studio Monitors. This 300 watt active loudspeaker system with a 24-bit/192kHz DAC can render MQA files, is certified Roon Ready and has a total of six inputs to support both analog and digital sources. Other features include: selectable bass contouring and signal-sensing line-level output for connectivity to an external powered subwoofer. Weighing in at 29.6 lbs. and with dimensions of 13.2″ H x 8.3″ W x 8.8″ D these small bookshelf monitors can fit virtually anywhere.

The 4305P’s streaming engine supports both wired and wireless network audio including Google Chromecast Built-in, Apple AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth. Input and output connectivity is all supported on the rear panel of the primary speaker and includes:

  • 1-USB – asynchronous
  • 1-Optical
  • 1-3.5 mm analog input
  • 2-XLR/1⁄4 inch TRS/TS analog input – balanced or unbalanced with selectable input sensitivity
  • 1-Phono analog input
  • 1-phono Sub out
  • 1-digital link

The 4305P consists of a pair of powered monitors that support L/R assignment with the primary speaker providing front panel support for:

  • Volume
  • Mute
  • Input selection
  • Bluetooth pairing

In addition to this front control panel there is a Bluetooth handheld remote and the speakers can be controlled as part of a Google Home or Apple AirPlay ecosystem. Connectivity between the primary and secondary speakers maybe either wired or wireless. If wired using the supplied 2m connection it supports up to 192KHz, when using wireless the maximum sample rate is 96KHz.

The speakers acoustic design is based upon a bass-reflex configuration with dual front-firing tuned ports. The JBL transducer technologies in each speaker includes:

  • 1-2410H-2 1″ compression driver
  • 1-High-Definition Imaging horn
  • 1-5.25″ cast frame, fiber-composite cone woofer

Each of these transducers is driven by internal Class D amplifiers in each speaker delivering 25W to the compression driver and 125W to the woofer.

Rounding off the technical specifications the 4305P is constructed from 6.35mm MDF with internal bracing and features a real wood veneer finish in a choice of natural Walnut with a blue grille or Black Walnut with a black grille.

JBL is also offering a 90-day trail period of high-resolution streaming audio from Qobuz along with a curated playlist of songs that highlight this speakers excellent audio performance.
