Goldmund Melos Active Wireless Speakers Unveiled

Right on the heals of the release of the Melos passive entry-level stand-mount loudspeakers comes their active counterpart, the Melos active loudspeakers, that the company claims, “represent a harmonious union of advanced technology and meticulous craftsmanship”.
This latest active design was inspired by their Tethy and flagship Gaïa speaker designs. Its name, ‘Melos,’ is a homage to the melodies of ancient Greece, capturing the essence of this speaker’s capability in an understated and simple monolithic aluminum housing measuring 13.78×9.84×14.25 inches (35x25x36.2 cm) (HxWxD) and weighing in at 53lbs (24 Kg) per speaker.
The two way design is based upon a front vented reflex approach with a 1-inch soft dome tweeter and 7-inch woofer. Each driver is powered by a 175 W built-in Telos amplifier. Its design was executed using Proteus LS software which includes their proprietary digital filtering calculations and Leonardo time correction, which, according to Goldmund, “digitally realigns the signal frequencies in time and suppresses phase distortion”. Its claimed frequency response being; 40 Hz (-6 dB) > 25 KHz.
Connectivity is available either wirelessly or via the rear panel digital S/PDIF input. A rear panel digital S/PDIF output is also available.
This understated little “cube” comes in Goldmund’s signature grey finish and is complemented by matching gray grilles. Optional black grills can be requested at the time of ordering. Finally, bespoke stands are said to be following shortly.

Editors comment: I am once again amazed at the price of these speakers, and as I said before, not too sure what you are getting for your money other than exclusivity!
