Goldmund Announces Eidos SACD Player

Luxury audio company Goldmund of Geneva, Switzerland continue to support the plastic SACD and CD formats with the release of their latest high-end and more “affordable” Eidos SACD CD player. Supporting a wide variety of available CD and DVD audio formats, plus its external USB input also supports PCM audio formats up to 384KHz and up to DSD512.

Following on from their Eidos Reference SACD model this model can play a wide variety of market audio formats to include; SACD/CD/CD-R/CD-RW/DVD-R*/-RW*/+R*/+RW* (*Audio data file only). When its not playing those shiny discs its rear USB port provides computer connectivity supporting up to 384 kHz PCM and up to 22,579.2 MHz DSD. Besides having both balanced analog stereo XLR outputs and unbalanced analog RCA stereo outputs, the rear panel digital outputs include; SPDIF, AES EBU and Optical Digital Audio: up to 384 kHz PCM, enabling customization and compatibility with a wide variety of audio equipment.

This smaller design is available in a grey finish and incorporates the same audio card as its big brother and has a new front panel and control keyboard. The design is based upon the D&M SACD mechanism which is integrated into the Goldmund mechanical grounding system to reduce vibrations and the Goldmund damper to increase rigidity of the loader mechanism. With space at a premium, the Goldmund engineers have optimized the shielding solutions between the different parts of the internal electronics, notably the audio card and the power supply in order to minimize any interactions.
