Dual started manufacturing gramophone components in Germany in 1907, introducing their signature “dual-motor” for powering record players in 1927. The design was so popular that the company took the name “Dual”. They are still based in Germany and continue to manufacture good quality turntables.
Dual’s new CS 429 is a fully automatic turntable providing ease of operation with an optional automatic start and stop function that moves, raises and lowers the arm automatically and comes complete with a fully aligned cartridge and built-in phono pre-amp.
The plinth is constructed from MDF with integrated elastomer vibration absorber feet that together with the plinth rubber matt help to reduce vibration and resonances. While the internal rubber damping construction decouples the tonearm and platter from external vibrations.  The die-cast aluminum, belt driven platter, rests on a hardened steal spindle, runs in a brass bearing bushing and is driven by a servo-controlled DC motor whose precise speeds of; 33, 45 and 78 rpm, are optically controlled.

The CS 429 has an adjustable tonearm that provides the option to change the included Ortofon 2M Red cartridge in the future and to adjust the tracking force and skating values. The signals from the cartridge are amplified to line-level by the built-in phono preamplifier, which can be bypassed and switched off.
