Denon Announces DP-3000NE Flagship Turntable

Denon has just announced their DP-3000NE direct drive premium flagship turntable. This new design features: a newly improved S-shape tonearm, a new direct drive motor control board and a switched mode power supply (SMPS).
The newly improved arm features; cartridge weight adjustment (4-26g), anti-skating adjustment (0-3 g) and a newly developed arm height adjustment (VTA) (0-9 mm) ensureing that it has the versatility to accommodate a broad range of MM or MC cartridge types.
The direct drive motor employs a new control board that is powered by a switched mode power supply (SMPS) to create three selectable speeds – 33 1/3 rpm, 45 rpm, and 78 rpm. This new board uses space vector pulse width modulation (SV-PWM), a new design for the motor spinning control. SV-PWM is simply an algorithm used to control the pulse with modulation (PWM) module that drives the motor. SV-PWM greatly reduces harmonics in the motor which can cause overheating and torque fluctuations by offering a continuous reliable voltage and frequency output for long periods of listening at any rotation speed or load, via continuous feedback of the platters rotational speed. All of which should reduce minute vibrations in the platter caused by the motor, improving the electromagnetic conversion accuracy of the cartridge.
Denon says that the use of an SMPS avoids the magnetic interference and noise problems created by a linear power supply transformer and avoids voltage and frequency fluctuations from variations in the AC power. Such a design also allows the supply to be mounted within the turntable base.
Constructed with a dark ebony natural wood veneer over a solid high-density wood cabinet, it employs height adjustable feet that together with the solid cabinetry are key features in reducing vibrations from the surface the turntable is placed on. The deck also comes with a removable dust cover.

- Space Vector PWM motor control: SV-PWM is an algorithm to control the motor’s power supply to greatly reduce harmonics and ensures continuous reliable voltage.
- Speed selector: Three speeds of 33 1/3 rpm, 45 rpm, and 78 rpm.
- Cartridge accessories: Denon® original headshell perfectly matches any existing MC Denon cartridge. Can be used with any compatible MM or MC cartridge.
- Adjustable insulator feet: The feet protect the playback from any vibration picked up from the surface that the turntable is placed on and are also adjustable for levelling.
- Dust cover: Features a crystal-clear and removable dust cover.
