DENAFRIPS ARCE Streamer – First Look

For those not familiar with this 12 year old audio design company, DENAFRIPS Co. Ltd is privately owned and located in Guangzhou, China. They are quite well known for their range of DAC’s, Master Clocks and Reclockers. They also manufacture various amplifiers and other audio components.
The ARCE streamer is the latest addition to their range of products. It is a pure digital streamer that requires an external DAC, has a moderate range of digital I/O connectivity but only connects via Ethernet (no Wi-Fi).
According to DENAFRIPS they were not impressed with the avilable range of off-the-shelf streaming boards or single-board computers (SBC) and so developed their own. This unique in-house module developed by the DENAFRIPS in-house engineers incorporates a Quad-Core AMR Cortex Processor, High Quality Crystal Oscillators, LT Fast Transient Response, Low Noise, and LDO Regulators, plus a fully-customized operating system.
Out of the gate, the resulting streaming board supports; Roon Bridge, AirPlay, DLNA (includes directly attached USB storage devices and SD cards) and HQPlayer NAA. Roon Ready certification is currently being undertaken. Future developments include; Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect but with no promises from Denafrips as to when they will become avilable.
The all aluminum chassis’s rear panel connectivity includes; Coax x 1, AES/EBU x 1, TOSLink x 1, I²S LVDS over HDMI x 1, (no USB) and two BNC sockets for external clock synchronization.
