The latest integrated amplifier from UK based Creek Audio is the 4040A that has been designed to reprise the essence of the original 1982 – CAS4040. This new model now includes several technological advances and modern digital features expected from todays amplifiers.

Control of the 4040A is via its intuitive user interface and the sophisticated menu system that is easily navigated with either the IR remote control or front panel rotary control knobs. The electronic volume control enables precise 1dB adjustment over a 70dB range. Left/right balance, tone controls and EQ settings, further enhance its flexibility.

According to Creek, “the key to the 4040A integrated amplifier’s impressive performance is in its high-frequency power supply, optimized for audio electronics”. The 4040A’s performance is said to be unaffected by mains quality or voltage variations. The Class D power amplifier employs cutting-edge MERUS TM technology from Infineon and by employing a voltage stabilized 250 watt power supply allows the 4040A to double its power output each time the load impedance is halved, regardless of the mains voltage, providing 35 watts into 8 Ohms, 70 watts into 4 Ohms, both channels driven.

This new model includes the audiophile quality ESS SABRE, 2-Channel, 24 bit, ES9023 DAC that converts digital signals into analogue from input sources that include; USB, co-ax SPDIF, optical Toslink, USB class 2 and aptX Bluetooth 5.0.

Rear panel analog connectivity includes; two stereo pairs of unbalanced RCA auxiliary inputs, one stereo pair of balanced XLR inputs, four speaker binding posts and the IEC AC power socket. The standard configuration does not come with a phono input. However, vinyl lovers can install an optional plug-in Sequel mk4 Phono Pre-amp in place of Aux 2 to match a wide range of Moving Magnet and high-output Moving Coil cartridges (price TBA).

Finally a front panel mounted  1/4″ jack socket provides access to a dedicated headphone amplifier that will drive a wide range of headphones.

The Creek 4040A will be available in early 2023 with the choice of a silver or black faceplate.
