VPI has announced its latest turntable, the Model One, a first in the company’s new modular Forever turntable series. Based on decades of turntable design, the company has developed the Forever Series to showcase a new era in the performance and modularity of its products that are designed to evolve with the user. Available in black ash veneer and comes with a hinged clear dust cover and ten year warranty.

At the core of the Model One are new motor drive and platter modules. The modules are mounted on a thick aluminum plate with resonance-canceling damping that reduces vibrations. The 20lb aluminum platter is belt driven by an AC motor that operates at 500 RPM and features a two-speed pulley for precise speed control. The platter sits on an inverted bearing that minimizes surface area contact between its spindle and bearing, reducing friction and boosting performance.

The Model One introduces VPI’s new 3-point floating suspension system that uses high-tech polymer. It is designed for improved isolation from external vibrations and is fully adjustable for leveling. This advanced 3D isolation system stabilizes the turntable, minimizing motor noise and reducing external and internal vibrations.

The Model One includes a new VPI Tonearm Module that employs a 10″ S-shaped statically balanced model. It is constructed from aluminum, has a fixed headshell and uses ABEC 5 bearings to eliminate chatter. Adjustments include, arm height to adjust VTA, tracking weight, bias, azimuth and zenith. Connectivity from the cartridge to the RCA connectors is provided by a continuous length of VPI high-purity copper wire(s).

VPI claims that the modular design of the motor drive and platter module enables easy servicing and adjustment and opens up a simple upgrade path, at a later date, to Model Two or Model Three specifications and technologies as they become available.

Current available upgrades include:

  • Periphery Ring Clamp – Improves record warp reduction and the shelf life of your cartridge.
  • Analog Drive System (ADS) – Improves accuracy and speed adjustment.
  • Fatboy Tonearm – Gimbal or Unpivot
  • Modular Two
