Volumio Preciso DAC – Quick Look

Volumio, the Italian brand behind the Integro integrated amplifier and the Motivo music streamer, have released a new DAC, the dual mono Preciso DAC that is said to; “maximize audio integrity without excess” thanks to its use of high-quality audio components and optimized design.
The new design uses a pair of isolated ESS ES9039Q2M DAC chips with optimized signal paths all helping to improve channel separation. These DAC’s are driven by a single MEMs clock that Preciso says is in pursuit of “impeccable timing of coherence”. Independent power supplies and regulation are used for both the analogue and digital designs all helping to improve signal noise and distortion levels which are shown to be >122dB SINAD with a THD of 0.000074% at 1KHz @ 4.4 VRMS output.
Carefully selected components like a precision MEMS clock, premium OPA1612A OPAMPs, and an ASIC USB interface ensure clean and stable performance, while the built-in Hardware Gain Control offers precise 0.5dB steps from 0.0 dB to -99.0 dB, removing the need for an external preamp.
The DAC can handle PCM files up to 32-bit/768KHz and DSD512 and provides digital USB, coaxial, optical and HDMI I2S inputs, with analog balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA stereo outputs. Control connectivity is available using the 3.5mm DC trigger I/O.
