Volumio Launches Rivo Plus Streamer

Italian HiFi brand Volumio has launched the Rivo+ all digital transport. It builds upon their earlier Rivo model and includes various upgrades and features requested by customers. These include; a dedicated ASIC for cleaner S/PDIF and AES-EBU outputs, upgraded MEMS clocks for lower jitter, I2S over HDMI connectivity for compatible high-end DAC’s, and a 12V trigger to power on/off other components, while continuing to offer all Volumio premium features.
The Rivo+ features a dedicated ASIC to generate the S/PDIF and AES-EBU output signals, offloading this crucial task from the CPU. This specialized integrated circuit is designed to produce these digital output signals with high precision, free from interference or jitter introduced by the main processor.
Driving the dedicated ASIC is a high-quality MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) clock, which provides an exceptionally stable and low-jitter timing reference that is not susceptible to temperature changes and aging helping to provide a consistently high-quality audio output. Coupled with low-noise voltage regulators, this enhancement to the RIVO+ ensures the output signals maintain purity and refinement.
This upgraded clock also drives the USB HUB IC enhancing reclocking and signal integrity at the USB DAC port, ensuring superior jitter stability and consistent audio quality. While the I2S/DSD over HDMI interface offers optimal sonic performance for some external DAC’s compared to S/PDIF, AES-EBU, and USB.
The Rivo+ is certified as Roon Ready and supports; DSD, WAV, FLAC, ALAC, AAC, Vorbis and MP3 formats, Airplay via Shairport Sync, Spotify & Spotify Connect, TIDAL & TIDAL Connect, and QOBUZ services, with plugins available for; YouTube, Squeezelite, Radio Paradise, Podcasts, Pandora, Fusion DSP, Roon Bridge, Soundcloud and Mixcloud.
Primary control and the user interface is available using the free Android/iOS app with all software updates provided by an OTA updater. Alternatively users may use the HDMI connection and a suitable 4K/60fps touchscreen for access. On board the Rivo+ is the latest version of Volumio – Volumio AI- that incorporates Supersearch, an AI-powered search function that is meant to optimize your music discovery. Volumio OS comes with a Multi-room capability that creates an integrated environment with other Volumio stations in your home.
Finally, the Rivo+ rear panel connectivity is quite extensive and incudes; 2 x USB2, 1 x USB3, 1 x RJ45 network, 1 x HDMI 2.1, 1 x I2S, 1 x micro card slot, 1 x XLR digital out, 1 x RCA coaxial digital out and 1 x 3.5mm 12VDC trigger out. Power is supplied by an external 5VDC adapter.
