Triangle Launches Lunar 3 turntable – First Look

Following the successful launch of their debut Lunar 1 turntable the French company Triangle has now released the Lunar 3 turntable. This three speed belt-driven model comes with Pro-Ject’s Debut Carbon straight tonearm that is factory fitted with an Ortofon 2M RED cartridge and has a built-in phono amplifier. It is available in the three lacquered finishes; black, blue and white and comes with a lightly smoked acrylic dust cover.
The main base is made from low-resonance high-density fiberboard which is mounted on three damping feet. The motor is mounted using two sorbothane blocks to reduce noise and vibration and is electronically speed controlled. It uses a flat (or round) belt to drive the high-density steel platter that is mounted on a stainless steel shaft. The electronic speed control supports 331/3 and 45RPM using the flat belt, and 78RPM using the round belt and larger pulley. On/Off and speed selection switching is located under the front LHS of the chassis.
The integrated 8.46″ straight tonearm is Pro-Jects fixed headshell carbon fiber Debut Carbon, which, at only 6gms is both light and strong. It provides an arm lift and adjustable counterweight and anti-skating, plus it supports azimuth adjustment. It comes with a factory installed and aligned Ortofon 2M RED MM cartridge.
The turntable has a built-in RIAA MM phono amplifier to provide equalized line-level signals or it may be bypassed in order to use your own phono pre-amp.
Analog signal connectivity is provided by two rear mounted and gold-plated unbalanced RCA connectors and a grounding lug that are adjacent to the line/phono level switch.
