SVS Expands R|Evolution Line With New 3000 Series Subwoofers

SVS has announced the 3000 R|Evolution Series subwoofers, bringing the technology developed for its flagship R|Evolution platform into more compact and cost effective models. This new range comprises two models; the sealed-box SB-3000 R|Evolution and the ported PB-3000 R|Evolution. Both models are available in a Black Ash, with the SB’s also coming in a Gloss Black finish.
SB-3000 R|Evolution
This latest series is said to have been redesigned from the “ground up” to deliver reference-grade bass performance to a broader audience. They are both engineered on the engineering expeience gained with the SVS 17-Ultra R|Evolution and the more recently launched SVS 5000 R|Evolution. According to SVS, advances in driver design, amplification, power management, and DSP have enabled the new models to deliver deeper low-frequency extension, higher output, and improved transient accuracy compared with the previous generation.
PB-3000 R|Evolution
Both models use the same driver, power amplifier and processing. The all-new 13-inch high-excursion SVS driver features an aluminum cone with a flat edge wound split-wind voice coil designed to maximise magnetic force at high excursion while reducing moving mass. An 18.5lb toroidal ferrite magnet motor, an aluminium shorting ring, and a revised suspension geometry are used to maintain linearity and control at high output levels. Power is provided by an ST1200-D2 1,200-watt continuous, 4,000+ watt peak Class-D amplifier with a fully discrete MOSFET output stage. The design is combined with a two-stage switch-mode power supply that provides high current capability and stable performance from standard household power while maintaining tight control over the driver under demanding loads.
A highly advanced 295MHz Analog Devices 56 bit DSP handles signal processing, said to be the most advanced processing platform SVS has deployed in a consumer subwoofer. The DSP controls both performance and user access, enabling EQ tuning while maintaining low noise and high headroom through a premium digital-to-analogue converter.
System setup and calibration are primarily managed using the SVS Subwoofer Control smartphone app, which provides access to level adjustment, crossover settings, phase and polarity, room gain compensation and up to six bands of parametric EQ. While the rear panel has a small OLED display and 3 press buttons to set; Volume, Low Pass Filter Frequency, Phase, Power Mode, Flip Display, BT Lock (if enabled). Firmware Version and Factory Reset locally. The PB-3000 R|Evolution also includes selectable port tuning modes.
Rear panel connectivity is identical on both models, offering; stereo balanced XLR inputs and unbalanced RCA connections, plus support for their wireless Soundpath adapter.
Finally, SVS has said that an SVS Auto EQ feature will be added via an over-the-air firmware and app update. Using a smartphone’s built-in microphone or an optional external mic, the system will apply automated room correction to optimise in-room frequency response at the main listening position.
