SME Series M2 Tonearms Available Again
It is rumored by Stereonet that SME has just announced the “made to order” Classic Series of M2 tonearms in 9″ and 12″ lengths, both straight or J-shaped. This is quite a turnaround from back in 2019 when SME announced that it was exiting the “separates” tonearm business. This excellent series of tonearms is beloved by many audiophiles, including myself.
This new Classic range, that is to be available for individual retail sales, is designed to compliment their current range of magnesium arms that are fitted to their turntables.
This Classic M2 range will be available in both the straight and ‘J’ shaped (R) arm tubes in either 9″ or 12″ lengths. Pivot to stylus lengths are:
- M2-9(R): 9.18″ (233.2mm)
- M2-12(R): 12.16″ (308.8mm)
Starting MSRP (includes British VAT):
- M2-9: £2,380.00
- M2-12: £2,628.00
- M2-9R: £3,108.00
- M2-12R: £3,348.00
As of 4/27 I have been unable to corroborate this story or the USA availability and the UK SME website currently shows no information. However, several USA web sites still show former availability of these arms.
See the SME website for more information as it becomes available.
