Shanling Releases SM1.3 Touchscreen Streaming DAC

Shanling has launched the SM1.3, their latest touchscreen streaming DAC. Its Android 12 operating system, WiFi 6 and Ethernet support streaming apps from Spotify, TIDAL, Apple Music, Apple Classical and Amazon Music. However, there is no mention of being Roon Ready. With its large 5.8″ 1080P touchscreen and flexible inputs, outputs and storage expansion, this latest offering is built within an aluminum alloy chassis that comes in a choice of silver or black finishes.
Internally the M1.3 supports a flagship AK4499EX DAC with an AK4191 pre-processor modulator chip that take care of signal conversion. Clock synchronization is provided by a pair of dedicated Accusilicon clocks (45.1584 MHz & 49.152 MHz) together with Shanling’s AGLO system for bit perfect decoding that supports Hi-Res PCM and DSD up to 32bit/768KHz, DSD 512 and full MQA decoding. Power is provided by dual 31watt toroidal analog supplies for low noise and isolation. The heavily customized Android 12 operating system runs on a 64bit ARM Cortex-55 CPU and the internal TPA6120 op-amp that drives the 1/4″ (6.35mm) front panel headphone socket offers three gain modes for powers up to 1015mW into 32 Ohm loads.
Bluetooth 5.2 CODECS include; LDAC, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptXLL, aptX, AAC and SBC with support for numerous file formats; DSD, DXD, APE, FLAC,WAV, AIFF/AIF, DTS, MP3, WMA, AAC, OGG, ALAC, MP2, M4A, AC3, OPUS, TAK, ETC, Supports CUE. Apple Airplay 2 is also available together with support for local NAS drives over Samba or UPnP.
Rear panel connectivity includes; Ethernet RJ45, stereo balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog line level outputs, coaxial, TOSLINK and USB digital inputs, plus digital outputs that include; TOSLINK, coaxial, I2S and USB. Underneath the M1.3 there is a built-in SSD slot that supports up to 2TB of M.2 NVME 3.0 drives.
Finally, control is available using the front panel 5.8″ high resolution 1080P touchscreen that shows artwork, level meters, metadata, various menus and signal formats etc. together with the front panel controls, the supplied remote and the companion app for both iOS and Android. Or for complete control over all apps, wireless screen mirroring is also provided.
