Shanling Announces The CD-T35 CD Player And Streamer

Shanling was founded in 1988 and returns to the very high-end CD player market since its release in 2004 of its first luxury model the CD-T300. This latest model, the CD-T35, retains the CD-T300’s three-legged design and tubed output stage but due to the limited supply of their designated “high-end ” components only 99 units can be made. This flagship Shanling CD-T35 CD Player/Streamer includes; the Philips CD-Pro 2 transport/reader module and two AKM AK4499EQ DAC chips. This particular highly sought after DAC was discontinued after the 2020 AKM factory fire, while according to their press release the CD Pro2 is; “Likely the best Philips CD ever, utilizing linear tracking, housed in an overbuilt die-cast metal body and running an advanced decoding system for ideal error-free reading of the discs. It provides the CD player with a beautiful unique sound, simply unmatched by other CD mechanisms.”
The CD-T35’s output stages are designed around 2 pairs of hand-matched 12AU7 tubes, features a Constant Phase in All Frequencies Low Pass system, Custom I/V conversion circuit and according to Shanling, the company’s remaining stock of its “best capacitors, internal wiring and solder material”.
This flagship model has been brought right into the 21st century with the addition of a Wi-Fi/Ethernet network streamer. It uses an Octa-Core Snapdragon CPU to power an Android operating system with support for DLNA/UPnP and Apple AirPlay. The front-panel HD touchscreen or companion app providing control of Tidal, Qobuz, Apple Music and Spotify. The supporting power supply has been split accordingly, with one rail feeding the digital section and the other the analogue circuitry.
Optional support for a wide range of headphones is available from a four stage amplifier module that provides up to 7.6 W into 32 Ohm. Connectivity is located immediately beneath the bottom lip of the HD touchscreen and includes a full suite of headphone outputs: balanced XLR, balanced 4.4mm and single-ended 6.4mm, with adjustable gain being selected by the adjacent rotary switch.
Rear panel connectivity includes; single-ended RCA, balanced XLR and digital coaxial with the USB-B input allowing the T-35 to act as a standalone D/A converter, plus USB-A and RJ45 Ethernet ports.
