ScansonicHD New M Series Speakers – Quick Look

Scansonic of Denmark, has unveiled their latest M Series loudspeakers. This new lineup combines good engineering practice with Scandinavian design, delivering a well balanced product without a premium price tag. The M Series is available with a black or white satin gloss finish. It includes the following five models:
- M30.2 – Flagship floor stander 3 Way + Passive radiator bass
- M20.2 – Floor stander 2.5 Way + Passive radiator bass
- M15.2 – Stand mount 2 Way + Passive radiator bass
- M On-Wall – 2 Way Bass-reflex loaded
- M Center – 2.5 Way Bass-reflex loaded
All models use the same proprietary ribbon tweeter, which is claimed to significantly outperform traditional dome tweeters. Having a much lower moving mass, the ribbon design allows for exceptional speed and accuracy providing an extended frequency response.
The M Series’ mid-bass drivers benefit from a honeycomb design that uses an advanced four-material cone composition, which balances strength, rigidity, and elasticity. According to Scansonic, this design minimizes unwanted resonances while ensuring rapid transient response and excellent internal damping.
Both the floor standers and stand mount use rear-facing passive LF radiators instead of traditional bass reflex ports. The company tells us that the use of a passive radiator enhances low-frequency response while eliminating unwanted turbulence and port noise, resulting in tighter, more controlled bass and greater flexibility in room placement. Finally, Scansonic claims to have used premium crossover components to help improve signal integrity and phase alignment.
