Rotel A8 Integrated Amplifier – Quick Look

Rotel have recently announced the A8 integrated amplifier that is value tailored for music enthusiasts. This slim-line 2.36″ (60mm), full-width integrated amplifier is available in black and silver variants and is said by Rotel to be a “no compromise, high-performance” component. It comes with three line-level inputs (CD, Tuner, Aux) and a MM phono stage with a Class AB output power of 30 W/ Ch (8 ohms) or 40 W/ Ch (4 ohms).
Inside you will find a high-current toroidal transformer wound in-house at Rotel’s Zhuhai factory that powers the Class AB amplifiers that use high efficiency output transistors. This simple design doesn’t suffer from any digital noise as there is no DAC, streaming or switched mode supply.
Control is available using the supplied IR remote or front panel rotary controls for volume/balance/bass and treble with buttons for input selection and power 0n/0ff. The volume controls LED colors being selectable between red, green, blue, or purple.
Rear pane connectivity includes; three unbalanced stereo line-level RCA connectors and a pair of unbalanced RCA connectors for the RIAA equalized moving magnet (MM) input. Speaker connectivity is available via the two pairs of speaker binding posts, while a small slider allows the amplifier to be set to automatically shut-off when no signal is present. For private and late night listening the front panel contains a 1/8” (3.5mm) headphone jack.
