Q Acoustics Sub80, Sub100 and Sub120 – Quick Look

Q Acoustics nave introduced three new sealed, infinite baffle, active subwoofers; the compact Q SUB80 with an 8-inch driver, the mid-sized Q SUB100 with a 10-inch driver, and the Q SUB120, featuring a 12-inch driver. Finishes include; satin Black with a black grille or Satin White with a grey grille.
All three models use the same design of power amplifier module that features four digital power amplifier stages in a parallel bridge-tied load (PBTL) configuration, enhancing efficiency and speaker control by reducing output impedance and heat dissipation. This design can deliver powers from 200 to 300 watts continuous, and peaks between 400 and 600 watts, depending upon model, all with a total harmonic distortion (THD) performance of less than 0.1%.
At the heart of the Q SUB range is a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) that ensures tight, distortion-free performance regardless of placement. Rear panel adjustment options include; a low-pass filter with frequency adjustment from 40Hz to 250Hz, and phase and delay controls to fine-tune timing alignment. The subwoofers will also automatically detect the input signal and adjust gain accordingly, simplifying setup.
All of the power feeds bass drivers that feature a heavy-duty steel chassis, paper cone, and rubber surround. Bass unit diameters are 8 inches (203mm) Q SUB80, 10 inches (254mm) Q SUB100, and 12 inches (305mm) Q SUB120. Voice coil diameters are 1.5 inches (38mm) for Q SUB80/100 and 1.96 inches (50mm) for Q SUB120, with an aluminum demodulation ring for reduced inductance-induced modulation distortion.
The infinite baffle (sealed box) cabinet designs use 18mm high-density MDF with a 36mm double-thickness baffle for rigidity. Internal dart bracing enhances stability, reduces cabinet ballooning, and ensures optimal performance under high internal pressure.
Rear panel connectivity includes 1 x unbalanced stereo RCA line level input and a 12V trigger input to provide power management.
