Q Acoustics of the UK have just unveiled their latest generation of the brands 3000 series. This latest 3000c speaker range is said to be the brand’s most affordable loudspeaker series, being six years in the making. They embody many of the same technological advances as their legacy 3000/3000i series and Q acoustics tell us that their aim is to deliver “a sonic performance and high-quality design and build way beyond its class”. This third generation 3000 series consists of three standmount models, a floorstander and a center channel for creating a very affordable home cinema package.
One of the key features of this new range is the incorporation of the Continuous Curved Cone (C3) midrange/bass driver, which was first introduced in the step-up Q Acoustics 5000 series. This recently developed driver combines the advantages of a straight-sided cone with that of a flared cone, aiming to deliver better bass quality while integrating better with the high frequencies. Q acoustics claims that this driver allows you to position these speakers closer to walls. The cabinets point to point bracing (P2PTM) is also claimed to minimize low-end reverberation, improving the stereo image and soundstage.
All models use the same tweeter that is “hermetically sealed” and mechanically isolated from the front baffle, which is said to reduce mechanical vibrations generated by the mid/bass driver and internal pressure changes from the cabinet. The larger floor standing 3050c employs Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer tubes. Their function is to reduce internal cabinet standing wave build-up by placing one of end of the tube in the cabinets highest pressure area. This aids in achieving low distortion levels and an improved frequency response.
Finally, the range maintains the classic and minimalistic look of other Q Acoustics models with each model being available in four new finishes: Pin Oak, Claro Walnut, Satin White and Satin Black.
Key Features Summary:
- New ground-up C3 (pronounced ‘C-cubed’) Continuous Curved Cone™ mid/bass profile ensures superior bass dynamics and smoother integration with the high frequency driver.
- Based on design principles found in the newest Concept series, the hermetically sealed high frequency driver unit is mechanically isolated from the baffle, preventing modulation from the mid/bass driver.
- Low coloration cabinets with P2PTM (Point to PointTM) bracing, minimizing low-end reverberation to improve the stereo image and soundstage.
- Boasts a clean and contemporary aesthetic with sophisticated satin metallic driver trims.
- HPETM (Helmholtz Pressure EqualiserTM) tubes disrupt the build-up of standing waves, smoothing the frequency response and reducing distortion (3050C ONLY)
- Available in four new finishes: Pin Oak, Claro Walnut, Satin White, Satin Black.
