PS Audio has introduced the Foundry F12 subwoofer, its first standalone subwoofer product. This active subwoofer uses a newly developed 12-inch high-excursion driver mounted in a sealed enclosure driven by 1000 watt DSP controlled amplifier. It is available in both satin white and satin black finishes.

The Foundry F12 subwoofer uses a newly developed 12-inch high-excursion driver mounted in a sealed enclosure. The driver features a 2.5″ long-throw design with a cone that is made from paper with a carbon fibre dust cap. It is supported by a large Nomex spider and a motor system with dual shorting rings to maintain magnetic stability.
Driver power is provided by a built-in high-current amplifier rated at 1,000 watts continuous, fed by an 1,800-watt power supply. According to PS Audio, the Foundry F12 is capable of delivering controlled low-frequency output below 20Hz, with a maximum output of 113dB at two metres. Frequency response is specified at –6dB at 20Hz anechoic, extending flat below 20Hz in-room with room gain.

EQ and control is provided through a DSP based room correction feature that is accessed via the new PS Audio Foundry control app for iOS and Android. The app allows users to address common room-related bass issues such as peaks and troughs. Setup can be carried out manually or using an automatic EQ function, which does not require an external measurement microphone. User controls include; volume, crossover, delay, phase and parametric EQ, plus high- and low-pass filtering. Storage is provided for different presets with additional rear panel manual control providing local access to; volume, crossover frequency, phase and power off timeout.

Rear panel analog signal connectivity includes; 1 x stereo XLR and RCA line-level inputs, 1 x stereo binding posts for speaker level connections, 2 x 4-pin XLR inputs for PMG amplifiers and 1 x XLR output for multiple sub linking.
Finally, an optional wireless transmitter module is available using WiSA E 24/96 wireless technology that maintains low latency, and for stacking support, an optional kit allows multiple Foundry F12 subwoofers to be securely connected together.
