This latest belt drive budget turntable design is said to derive its design heritage form the original Pro-Ject 1 launched in 1991. This “basic” all manual turntable strips away the the non-essentials like; Bluetooth, USB, built-in phono stage and automatic cut-off. Instead it focuses on the basics to include; solid plinth, precision tonearm, and a premium platter design thereby prioritizing its analog sound. The E1.2 is available in high gloss black, satin white and a walnut wrap.

Its main platter is now a 730g aluminum die-cast design with a built-in TPE damping ring to minimize ringing and suppress vibration, resulting in more stable rotation and improved wow and flutter performance (33 RPM: +/-0.23%, 45 RPM: +/-0.21%).

This platter sits on a belt-driven precision (0.001%) glass-fiber-reinforced ABS sub-platter, that uses a stainless steel axle with a ball thrust bearing all housed in a bronze bushing, helping to improve speed accuracy and lower resonance. Rotational drive is provided by a damped DC motor that uses electronic speed control and a single button to switch between 33 and 45 RPM speeds.

The design features an included tonearm with a factory installed and pre-aligned Pick it MM E cartridge, a new low-mass cartridge design with a miniature neodymium magnet and a conical diamond stylus. The aluminum tonearm has an effective length of 8.6-inch, and mass of 7g. It features a heavy-mass precision pinpoint gimbal bearing that claims “zero play” and provides “smooth movement and clean sound”. The tonearm is fitted with a fixed carbon-reinforced headshell for added rigidity.

A void less CNC milled MDF plinth supports all these components sitting on three adjustable damping feet to decouple the turntable & reduce risk of acoustical feedback.

Finally, the turntable comes with OFC phono cables with gold-plated connectors, and a dust cover.
