Pro-Ject Audio Systems has announced the Debut Reference 10, a new flagship belt-driven turntable and latest addition to its long-running Debut series. Handmade in Europe, the Debut Reference 10 represents the culmination of decades of analogue expertise, blending precision engineering with modern design to create what Pro-Ject calls an “unparalleled listening experience.” Visually, the Debut Reference 10 walks the line between minimalism and luxury, with the diamond-cut metal components and satin-finished acrylic platter providing a crisp, modern aesthetic, while its eight-layer hand-painted MDF chassis adds a degree of warmth.

The Debut range was originally released back in the 1990’s, this latest model comes with numerous upgrades with more advanced mechanical and electrical engineering. Its hand-finished chassis and 10 inch hybrid carbon–aluminium tonearm, combines a rigid carbon-fibre outer layer with an aluminium core for better damping, diamond-cut aluminum components, an acoustically inert acrylic platter, and height-adjustable damped feet. The result, according to the company, is higher tracking accuracy, lower distortion, and improved overall clarity.

The Reference 10 arrives pre-fitted and factory aligned with Pro-Jects Pick it PRO Balanced moving-magnet cartridge. The arm supporting adjustment of; azimuth, vertical tracking angle (VTA), bias and tracking weight, giving users the flexibility to fine-tune cartridge alignment and use their own cartridge for optimal playback. The arm signal connections supporting either unbalanced RCA or True Balanced mini XLR connectivity.

Sitting upon the the belt-driven diamond-cut aluminium sub-platter that is machined to extremely tight tolerances, is main the acrylic platter. Driving the sub-platter is a new precision electronic speed control system with electronic selection for both 33⅓ and 45rpm playback, optional 78rpm support is available.

Its DC-driven AC generator produces a clean sine wave to power the motor, while an improved motor suspension isolates vibration from the chassis. Power is supplied via an external switch-mode unit, which feeds a precision DC/AC generator built into the turntable. Additional improvements may be had by pairing the Debut Reference 10 with the optional Power Box S3 Phono, which powers both the turntable and a compatible phono preamp while filtering DC noise for cleaner operation.

Supporting the main chassis are three TPE-damped height-adjustable feet that form a stable, low-resonance foundation. Pro-Ject has opted for a three-point system rather than four feet, as they claim it offers better stability on uneven surfaces and easier levelling.
