Onkyo Launches Creator Series of Powered Desktop Speakers

Besides the Icon Series of products, Onkyo has just launched a budget range of desktop powered speakers to include the GX10DB and GX30ARC models. Both are available in a white or black finish. These two new models are aimed at “modern listeners, musicians, creators and gaming fanatics” and anyone who spends a lot of their time working from home.

GX10DB in Black

Both of these powered speaker designs use Class D amplifiers that provides a total of 34W (two power amplifiers) for the GX10DB that employs a 3″ woofer with a ¾” tweeter and measures (HxWxD) 6.8 x 4.7 x 5.9 inches, (17.3 x 11.9 x 14.9 cm), and a total of 50W (four power amplifiers) for the bi-amped GX30ARC that uses a 4″ woofer, the same tweeter as the GX10DB and measures (HxWxD) 8.7 x 5.75 x 6.67 inches, (22 x 14.6 x 17 cm).

All DSP signal processing, filtering and amplification are provided by the primary speaker. The GX10DB secondary speaker connects through a single pair of speaker cables and uses an internal passive crossover. The GX30ARC secondary speaker connects via a two pair cable that drives the LF and HF units directly (bi-amplified). Behind the removable speaker cover, the front panel contains a multi-colored LED that shows which of the analog or digital inputs is active.

Common connectivity includes; Bluetooth 5.3, 1 x speaker out or in, 1 x switchable stereo line/phono RCA in, 1 x optical and USB-C digital in, 1 x subwoofer pre-out, a ground lug plus a volume knob and 24VDC power connector. The GX30ARC model adds a 3.5mm auxiliary input, HDMI ARC and a left/right speaker reversal switch.

Both models come with a ten degree angled speaker stand and a remote that allows selection of the ‘Listening’ and ‘Flat’ sound modes.
