Musical Fidelity has announced the Nu-Vista Vinyl S phono stage, providing a flexible front end for vinyl systems and designed to complement the Nu-Vista 600.2 and 800.2 integrated amplifiers. It is now available in both black and silver finishes.

The Vinyl S is based upon the the design of their flagship Nu-Vista Vinyl 2, incorporating a fully balanced and discrete layout with eight 7586 nuvistor valves, and employs three gain stages built around Class A discrete transistor circuitry. Its fully balanced configuration aims to maintain signal integrity and minimise noise throughout the circuitry. This latest design is housed in a smaller chassis than the Vinyl 2 and comes in at a more affordable price point.

In order to support more accurate curve reproduction and improved impedance matching, the equalisation stage uses a two section split-passive approach, with RIAA, DECCA and COLUMBIA EQ options available. Controls include gain, capacitance, impedance and equalisation settings, plus a two-stage subsonic filter, allowing the phono stage to accommodate a wide variety of MM and MC cartridges.

Powering this new design is their super-silent power transformer system. A toroidal transformer with EMI filtering, DC blocking and low electromagnetic radiation is combined with symmetrical low-noise power supplies. Each discrete amplifier stage uses DC servo control, and all balanced nuvistor power supplies are passively filtered and regulated.

The smaller aluminum chassis is formed from extruded aluminium panels for rigidity and resistance to external vibration. Its display layout copies the Nu-Vista Vinyl 2, and control is available using the front panel display, buttons and rotary controls and the accompanying slim “S” remote control allowing settings adjustment from the listening position.

Finally, rear panel signal connectivity includes; 2 x XLR and 2 x RCA inputs plus  1 x XLR and 1 x RCA outputs. Separate grounding lugs are provided for each input.
