Melco N5-H50 High End Music Library Launch

Drawing extensibly on the design of the recently released flagship N1-S38, MELCO have released a high end, lower cost digital music library, that primarily saves you money by replacing the flagship’s SSD in favor of HDD as well as a reduction in features. The N5-H50 benefits from Melco’s N1-S38 flagship, including; its ground-up design, new platform, chassis, casework and all-new mainboard developed for the N1-S38.

Having the same form factor and dimensions as the N1, the N5 has precision-machined two-tone metalwork. It is assembled using a rigid chassis, robust 3 mm stainless steel panels and “substantial aluminum components” all to minimize unwanted vibration. This model also supports the concealed shadow lighting that changes color according to the players status.

The N5-H50 is equipped with an “extreme grade” low-jitter system clock from NDK, professional RJ45 connectors for Melco’s LAN port and dedicated PLAYER port, plus small form factor pluggable (SFP) fiber connectivity. This connectivity supports the use of noise-isolating optical connectivity to other suitably equipped devices.

Rear panel USB 3.0 connectivity is supported on professional Amphenol connectors for the external DAC and storage expansion, while USB 2.0 is avilable on the front panel that also contains the control buttons and OLED display panel.

This new design is powered by a high grade, low noise, internal linear power supply created from multistage linear regulation and an audio-grade toroidal transformer mounted on an anti-vibration mount.
