McIntosh LB200 Light Box – Really!
All Image Credit: McIntosh
Yes, it’s just an empty box, well almost. This new product is a matching storage box for all your unsightly, odd ball, bits and pieces and includes an IR interface. So for all those McIntosh aficionados here is the matching component that will round off your system and bring you peace and tranquility. Now you can hide away that none unattractive cable or streaming box, satellite receiver, or other non-McIntosh electronic component.
The LB200 features the timeless McIntosh aesthetic of an illuminated black glass front panel that displays the logo and “Handcrafted In The USA Since 1949” statement. Aluminum end caps complete the panel.
Components are installed within the box via either its removable rear 14″x2.65″ panel or if too large then the top can be easily removed. Small, dedicated holes are included on the back to help with cable management fasteners. I assume that as there are no obvious dedicated cable access cut-outs that the rear panel is permanently removed once equipment is installed. Heat dissipation and flow is accomplished by the abundance of top, bottom and side ventilation slots.
In order to control and operate any devices placed within the LB200 an IR repeater kit is included within the box that has an extra wide detector window on the boxes front panel. RF and Wi-Fi commands will in most cases pass through the LB200 with little signal loss. Finally the rear panel contains Power Control in/out sockets allowing it to be seamlessly controlled by other McIntosh products and an on/off power switch.
