LUXMAN, who are celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2025, has developed the E-07, an all-solid-state MM/MC phono equalizer amplifier that Luxman claim “sets a new benchmark in performance and sound quality.” The E-07 features a slim chassis designed to match the width of LUXMAN’s separate amplifiers and integrated amplifiers and is finished with a blasted white front panel ensuring design consistency.

The E-07 features newly developed step-up transformers for MC inputs that utilize a super permalloy core. Two independent transformers are used for each channel supporting Low/High gain, allowing for optimal transformer selection based on the chosen impedance group. Additionally, support for both balanced and unbalanced inputs is provided via one balanced pair (XLR) and two unbalanced pairs (RCA) terminals.

The design features a high S/N ratio, (MM 88dB, MC-H 81dB, MC-L 78dB), has a MM/MC compatible RIAA curve and employs high-quality NF-type transistors in a low-noise circuit design that is achieved by paralleling four individual FETs in the primary stage creating a total harmonic distortion of 0.003%.  The E-07 features a six-position rotary load impedance selector for MC cartridges (4.7/10/40/100/300/1KΩ) on the front panel, and load impedance selector switches for MM cartridges (34/47/56/100KΩ) plus load capacitance selector switches (0/100/220/320pF) on the rear panel.

The E-07 employs a loopless chassis structure that isolates the power supply from the amplifier sections while minimizing ground impedance generated by chassis currents by using a central petal-shaped grounding structure. Additionally, the OFC cable used for all internal wiring has precise spiral-wrapped shielding and pure unplated copper cores to ensure natural signal transmission, with signal routing and switching being handled by relay switching throughout.

Besides the selection of inputs and MC loading, the front panel controls support; an Articulator function that is said to defeat magnetization of the cartridge and MC transformers using the signal current from the record being played, a Low-Cut switch, a Mono Mode switch and a Phase Inversion switch that reverses the phase of the balanced outputs.

Powering the design are a total of three transformers, two configured independently for the left and right audio processing circuitry, with a separate transformer for the indicators and relay drive circuits. This design creates an ideal power environment where load fluctuations in each circuit block do not interfere with one another. Additionally, it is equipped with independent power supply regulators and 50,000μF (5 x10,000μF) of capacitor storage creating a very stable and noise free current supply.

The rear panel supports MM cartridge loading selection and balanced and unbalanced input and output options that include; 2 x unbalanced RCA and 1 x balanced XLR phono inputs and 2 x unbalanced RCA and 1 x balanced XLR outputs.
