Leema Acoustics Debuts Quantum Neutron And Graviton Amplifiers

Leema Acoustics, a Welsh hi-fi manufacturer cofounded by two ex-BBC engineers has released their first all-new amplifier range in over a decade. The Neutron preamp and Graviton power amp are designed and manufactured in the Welshpool factory in Powys, Wales and are the first additions to the brand’s new Quantum collection. This new line draws inspiration from Leema Acoustics’ flagship Constellation series but takes a more simplified and cost-effective approach, having; simpler casework, a single transformer replaces multi-transformers and the board assembly has been simplified.
The Neutron pre-amplifier is a versatile system hub having 12 analog and 7 digital inputs. For vinyl enthusiasts, the Neutron offers a high-quality switchable MM/MC phono stage that is based upon Leema Acoustics’ proprietary design. The preamp also benefits from an advanced asynchronous ESS 24-bit/192 kHz USB DAC, a high-end Burr-Brown analogue resistive ladder volume control and a dedicated headphone amplifier via the front panel’s 6.4mm socket.
Rear panel connectivity supports; analog stereo unbalanced RCA x4, balanced XLR x1 and phono inputs. Analog stereo outputs include; unbalanced RCA x2, variable balanced XLR x1, unbalanced RCA tape x1 and unbalanced sub x2. Digital connectivity includes; three optical and three coaxial inputs plus USB. A 12 V trigger for system integration is also available.
The Graviton power amplifier is claimed to use one of the largest toroidal power supplies seen at its price point. Its high-current Class AB design that uses six matched Toshiba output transistors per channel capable of delivering 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 260 watts into 4 ohms.
Both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs are available plus unbalanced RCA line level loop through for bi-amping. Dual speaker binding posts are included to allow easy speaker bi-wiring.
Finally all Quantum-range models benefit from UK-made casework available in brushed black or silver finishes, with solid aluminum precision-machined front panels and control dials.
