JVC Delays Release of New 4K Series of Projectors

On November 30th 2018 JVC officially announced the temporary cancellation of the launch of their new native 4K series and pseudo 8K projectors due to a component “problem”. It has not been disclosed what the actual component is that is causing the delay, other than it is from a ‘third party’.
What is strange is that JVC are saying that “It has become clear that there is no rapid solution to this issue that will enable us to commence delivery of these projectors in the immediate future.”
Here is the official release:
JVC headquarters and senior staff imply that the issue is not a serious problem. How can that be, when they don’t apparently have a solution to it and have suspended the release of the entire native 4K and pseudo 8K lineup shown above? That sounds pretty serious to me!
I have no doubt that with JVC’s extensive experience with DILA projector technology that they will resolve whatever the technical issue is. However, leaving the public and vendors to wildly speculate as to what the problem is, I feel, is not good PR. Also, what about all those who have already purchased one of these new 4K/8K models? JVC owes it to them to look out for whatever the problem is OR provide them with the option to return the projector for a full refund pending the release of the corrected models.
It is very interesting that after years of research and development that this technical issue has only raised its head, just as they started to sell the product. It never showed up on the native 4K DLA RS4500K laser model, even one year after its release. However, I am sure due to its cost, its components are all very high grade.
JVC must have put many thousands of hours onto their beta and test projectors prior to their release. So why didn’t the technical issue show itself during that time interval? Did they use “quality components” that were expensive to produce for the early models and then go “cheap” in order to hit a price point for mass production?
Unfortunately these type of open ended statements could push prospective buyers towards Sony’s new range of SXRD projectors that use laser technology.
Such a pity for such a promising line up. I own a JVC RS640 pseudo 4K projector and its image performance is outstanding.
