Fyne Audio F701SP Loudspeaker – First Look

Fyne Audio of Scotland has launched the F701SP, its first standmount ‘Special Production’ loudspeaker in the F700 series. It is built and hand-finished at the their new Glasgow factory and brings much of the technology, tuning and performance of the F1 Series to its sleek and contemporary standmount design. It is available in four finishes, Piano Gloss Walnut, Piano Gloss Black, Piano Gloss White and Natural Walnut.
This latest passive design incorporates; an 8″ (200mm) IsoFlare driver with a refined HF waveguide for smoother frequency response, an F1 Series derived BassTrax porting system, F1 Series specification crossover and internal wiring.
The F701SP’s 8” (200mm) IsoFlare driver is derived from the F1-8, featuring an 8″ (200mm) multi-fiber bass / midrange cone with FyneFlute roll surround that crosses over at 1.8kHz to Fyne’s 1″ (25mm) magnesium dome compression tweeter with ferrite magnet system, resulting in a 8″ (200mm) point source, time-aligned, full-range driver.
All housed in the F701 standmount cabinet and accessorized with black aluminum anodized trims. This smaller, 18.3″ high, premium cabinet uses a downward firing port and bottom mounted BassTrax Tractrix 360degree LF diffuser. The final design claiming a frequency response of 35Hz – 34kHz, 360 watts power handling and 91dB/W high sensitivity.
The internal bi-wiring uses high-end Neotech PC-OCC cabling, two pairs of Gold-plated WBT Nextgen 0703 terminals, and its passive crossover is hand-built with silver alloy solder and includes audiophile components such as ClarityCap capacitors. The entire crossover is then subject to Fyne’s in-house Deep Cryogenic Treatment process said to relieve stresses in the crystalline conductors and joint structure. The bi-wired dual terminal connectivity makes the design ready to go for a bi-wired or bi-amped systems.
