Fyne Audio Announces Vintage Classic Gold SP Loudspeakers

Fyne Audio has announced its Vintage Classic Gold SP Series of loudspeakers. This new SP (Special Production) range borrows much of the engineering and technology from the high-end Vintage Series and adds it to updated and enhanced versions of the Classic Series cabinets. The result is a beautifully finished, retro-styled loudspeaker with cutting-edge audio performance. All models offer the same finish of a real wood walnut veneer and anodized gold accents.
The Vintage Classic Gold SP Series is available with 8″ VIII, 10″ X, 12″ XII, and 15″ XV IsoFlare driver versions. All four models featuring a single multifibre paper LF cone terminated with Fyne’s patented FyneFlute roll surround. This rubber surround is said to terminate the cone energy minimizing time smearing and improve transient response. Large ferrite motors are used across the range, with rectangular copper-wound voice coils wound on an aluminum former that is said to aid heat dissipation. The motor assembly uses a copper shorting ring on the pole piece to reduce eddy currents and stabilize the magnetic field.
The smallest Gold SP VIII model uses an 8-inch IsoFlare driver with a 1-inch magnesium dome HF transducer that has a ferrite magnet system and custom designed waveguide to ensure the smoothest radial dispersion of high frequencies.
Following in the footsteps of the Vintage Series, the larger Gold X, XII and XV SP use the same 3″ titanium dome compression HF technology that is driven by a massive Neodymium magnet system. This HF design pushes the crossover frequency down to 750Hz, ensuring the HF unit handles most of the critical vocal range.
All crossovers are hand-built and include; high-power metal-clad resistors, Claritycap high-grade polypropylene capacitors, low-loss laminated iron core inductors, and are connected using Neotech PC-OCC internal wiring. The final assemblies also undergo a proprietary Deep Cryogenic Treatment (DCT) process which is claimed to “improve the signal path”.
These new ported cabinets are constructed from high-density birch ply, plus the cabinets are extensively internally braced and damped, all claiming to improve damping, reduce internal cabinet reflections and lower coloration. Their design includes an “enhanced version” of Fyne’s downward-firing BassTrax tractrix profile low-frequency diffuser system, with bass energy converted to a 360-degree wave that disperses bass energy uniformly into the room. The cabinets are finished off with grilles constructed from the same acoustically transparent material as the high-end range, and these floor-standing models are all fitted with M12 threaded floor cones.
All models include front panel high-frequency Energy and Presence controls tailored to each model. This provides up to +/- 3dB HF energy gain and up to +/- 3dB presence enhancements.
Finally, all Classic Gold SP models feature two pairs of terminals for optional bi-wiring and a ground connection.
