Epson LS11000 4K Laser Projector – Preview
Just released, the LS11000 is Epson’s lower cost brother to the $4,999.99 Pro Cinema LS12000 4K projector that was introduced last month.
Coming in at $3,999.99 it is almost a clone of the LS12000 in terms of technical features, but has a slightly lower rated color/white brightness of 2,500 lumens versus 2,700 and a contrast ratio specified at almost half that of the LS12000: 1,200,000:1 versus 2,500,000:1 (both auto iris on). The other notable differences between this sibling and the LS12000 are that it does not support ISF calibration, the anamorphic lens option nor does it come with a ceiling mount and rear cover.
The LS11000 is also a three-chip LCD projector that features a multi-array laser that uses a new digitally controlled Precision Shift Glass Plate to achieve 4K resolution. It also uses Epson’s 36-bit ZX Picture Processor to handle color, contrast, HDR frame interpolation, and resolution enhancement.
It supports the usual range of projector HDR formats; HDR, HDR10+ and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) at refresh rates of up to 120 frames per second (fps) with 10-bit high dynamic range (HDR) processing and 16-step real-time HDR curve adjustment. Supporting gamers its lag time is claimed to be less than 20mS at 120fps.
Input connectivity is provided by two HDMI 2.1/HDCP 2.3 compatible ports supporting 4K 4:4:4 60Hz chroma sampling at 12 bits. One of these ports supports an enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC),
Despite the slightly reduced light output of 200 lumens and having half the contrast ratio of the LS12000, this lower cost sibling should still be capable of generating a good picture in virtually any home theater environment – even in rooms with some ambient light.
MSRP: $3,999.99 – Two-year limited warranty.
