Denon is marking its 110th birthday with a quartet of special edition products that combined make up a complete audiophile home component system.

Denons 110th Anniversary Range

Each of these new products are manufactured at the Denon factory in Shirakawa, Japan and undergo an extended quality assurance process before delivery. They also come with a special certificate indicating that they have been individually tuned by a Denon Sound Master(!) and a five year out-of the-box warranty (stylus excluded).

Few manufacturers of audio products can match Denon’s legacy that stretches back to 1910 when U.S. born Frederick Whitney Horn founded Nippon Chikuonki Shokai in Yokohama, Japan, and began making phonographs. The company eventually morphing into Denon after various mergers. Denon produced Japan’s first phonograph and professional disc recorder, introducing the worlds worst CD-ROM format in 1985 and more recently the worlds first universal Blu-ray players and 8K AV Receivers. To commemorate Denons’ 100 year legacy of high fidelity, they have released these four special-edition products.

All products come in an exclusive silver-graphite color together with the 110 Anniversary logo.

AVR -A110 AV ReceiverDenons 110th Anniversary Range

The flagship AVR-A110 13.2-channel 8K AV receiver supports all the popular immersive audio formats such as Dolby Atmos, DTS :X, DTS :X Pro, IMAX Enhanced, Auro-3D, as well as 8K/60Hz pass-through or upscaling, 4K/120Hz pass-through for gaming and support for the latest HDMI specifications.

The AV amplifiers aluminum case is finished in the limited-edition silver-graphite finish with die-cast feet and a copper transformer plate.

The receiver features the latest HDMI connectivity, supporting 8-in and 3-out, including a single dedicated 8K input along with the latest dynamic HDR standard. The eARC HDMI feature (through the main HDMI output) enables uncompressed and object-based audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS :X to connect directly from a smart TV app to the amp for improved audio performance.

Offering Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Quick Frame Transport (QFT), the AVR-A110 offers gamers an enhanced experience by minimizing lag and latency while eliminating frame tearing for more fluid and enhanced images.

A very substantial high current power transformer and custom high capacity 22,000uF audio capacitors provide plenty of power to deliver 150 watts per channel (8 ohms, 20 Hz – 20 kHz, 0.05% 2ch Drive).

Finally, networked audio is supported through the HEOS built-in wireless multi-room music streaming tech. Here you get Apple AirPlay 2 as well as access to the most popular music services such as Spotify, Amazon Music HD, TIDAL, Deezer and more. Also, you can enjoy hands-free control of the AVC-A110 thanks to compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Siri voice command engines.

PMA-A110 Integrated Amplifier

Denons 110th Anniversary Range

This two-channel integrated amplifier is powered by Denon’s patented 7th generation advanced Ultra High Current (UHC) topology, delivering two channels of 80 Watts into 8 ohms (20kHz-20Hz, THD: 0.07%).

Inputs include; phono (MM-2.5mV/47K & MC-0.2mV/100ohms), line level analog (135mV), copper coaxial, optical and USB-B. The digital connectivity is supported by a Quad DAC that uses four Burr-Brown PCM1795 chips, two per channel, working in a differential mode. Hi-res LPCM audio up to 384kHz and DSD up 11.2MHz (DSD256) are supported with an impressive line level signal to noise ratio of 110dB and a bandwidth of up to 100KHz, should both provide audiophile performance for both digital and vinyl enthusiasts. External pre-amplifier inputs are provided for those who would prefer to use there own low level pre-amplifiers.

Using Denons patented AL32 Processing, digital signals maybe up-sampled prior to conversion to analog. This development in analog waveform processing supports a maximum of 32x oversampling of the input signals sampling frequency (fs). The final output sampling frequency is therefore either 1.411MHz (fs=44.1kHz) or 1.536MHz (fs=48kHz) helping to reproduce the digital audio signal with improved detail and refinement.

The internals: DCD-A110 and PMA-A110.

DCD-A110 SACD Player

This brand new SACD player could almost be mistaken to be a Denon DBP-A100.

This high performance CD and SACD player supports DSD 2.8/5.6MHz and high-resolution LPCM audio up to 192KHz/24 bit on DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW discs with support for 48KHz sampling on CD-R/RW discs.

The players very solid construction employs Denons’ patented Suppress Vibration Hybrid (SVH) disc mechanism and premium heavy weight materials like a copper plated top panel, 2mm thick steel mechanism brackets and a die-cast aluminum disc tray. All helping to reduce the smallest of vibrations within the player.

The latest quad PCM1795DAC configuration provides analog conversion for the new Ultra AL32 processing engine with up to x32 oversampling for PCM signals creating an extremely accurate waveform. Clock stability and low jitter are assured by the use of two separate clock oscillators one for each sampling frequency – 44.1KHz and 48KHz.

Rounding of the players performance are two independent, fully discrete, and optimized, power supplies that use custom components. One supply for the analog and one for the digital electronics. The analog supply has large capacity (3300 µF) smoothing capacitors and powers the analogue audio circuitry after the D/A converter.

DL-A110 Phono Cartridge

Originally introduced in the 1960’s this moving-coil DL-A110 is a re-worked DL-103 with its meticulously hand-spun coils created in the Denon Audio Works factory at Shirakawa, Japan. Weighing in at only 6 grams the DL-A110 comes pre-mounted and fully aligned in a silver-graphite headshell that is equipped with an SME style bayonet connector. Having a detailed sonic signature with an extended bottom end response this new and improved DL-103 should be a popular choice with vinyl enthusiasts.
