Darbee 4K – PXLVision Coming Soon
Introduction
I was so skeptical when several years ago one of my readers sent me a message saying that; “his new Darbee Darblet provided a significant visual improvement to his HD image with little or no artifacts”. This I had to see to believe, particularly after I read a positive review by the infamous Kris Deering.
After buying the Darbee Darblet everything else is just “water under the bridge” and I have never looked back for HD processing. Several player and projector manufacturers also included the original HD processing engine in their products.
To be honest, I wasn’t too sure whether the required processing speeds could be cost effectively created to process a 4K signal; even though it was demonstrated way back in 2014. So after joining forces with Pixelgen Design, DarbeeVision, together with Pixelgens’ technical expertise, have achieved it!
Here is a brief extract from their announcement:
“New Pixelgen Products Powered by 4K DARBEE Visual PresenceTM Video Processing and Intel FPGAs
COMPANY ANNOUNCEMENT Aug 12, 2020.
Aug 12, 2020 – Pixelgen Design has partnered with DarbeeVision, developer of acclaimed video processing technology DARBEE Visual Presence (DVPTM), to develop the industry’s first standalone 4K video processing solution with embedded 4K DVP technology utilizing Intel FPGAs”
Unfortunately the PXLVision is not inexpensive with an estimated MSRP of $499.00, but if it does for 4K what it did for HD I shall be raiding my piggy bank!
UPDATE: 3/18/2021 – A 4K version by Pixelgen has now been developed, further details here. This new 4K version will cost $599.00 and maybe pre-ordered on their site here.
