AVID of Cambridgeshire, UK. have introduced the AVID Altus V2 and AVID Nexus V2 tonearms. These updated models build upon the versions introduced in 2023, now incorporating advanced bias control technology to improve tracking accuracy and sound quality.
These excellent hand-built tone arms have now been further improved with the addition of AVID’s new bias control technology. Bias or anti-skate force is known to vary not only with stylus profile and vinyl composition, but also across the surface of a record. This latest dual adjustment design allows for far more precise adjustments tailored to match this changing force as the stylus moves from the outer to the inner grooves. Thereby ensuring a more consistent and improved tracking/tracing performance across the entire side of an album.
These arms basic design still includes the high specification ball race bearings with both horizontal and vertical bearing shafts machined and ground to micron limits to ensure the only movement possible is in the desired directions with almost zero friction and zero loss of sound quality.
Both arms include arm lifts and adjustments for; azimuth, vertical tracking angle (VTA), overhang, tracking weight and dual-bias adjustments.
Finally, for current owners of the Altus and Nexus tonearms, AVID offers an upgrade to the V2 bias control system at its UK factory. Customers can access this service through AVID’s global retailer network.
