To go with their new line of Radia home cinema amplifiers, the AVA15, AVA25 and AVA35, Arcam have released a new range of Radia Series passive speakers. The Radia Series is comprised of six models; two floorstanders (R45, R35) and two bookshelf models (R25, R15), a centre speaker (R35C) and subwoofer (R25B). All models will be available in a dark Black Walnut wood veneer finish.
All six models are loaded using bass-reflex via a rear-mounted port, with all five passive models using the same 25mm (1-inch) DCC dome tweeter with Acoustic Lens and Waveguide. The bass and mid/bass drivers all use an Micro Ceramic Composite (MCC) material, while the dedicated midrange drivers and tweeters are all coated in a Deep Ceramic Composite (DCC) material.
- The entry-level R15 standmount is a two-way that pairs the 2.5cm tweeter with a 13cm Micro Ceramic Composite (MCC) mid/bass driver.
- The larger R25 standmoaunt is also a two-way but steps up to a 16.5cm MCC mid/bass driver.
- The centre-channel R35C runs a pair of 13cm MCC midrange drivers together with a 2.5cm tweeter in an MTM configuration.
- The R35 smaller floorstander is a three-way model that employs; three 13cm MCC drivers handling bass while a dedicated 13cm Deep Ceramic Composite (DCC) driver takes care of midrange.
- The largest floorstander is the three-way R45 that employs; three 16.5cm MCC drivers for the low end and a 16.5cm DCC midrange driver.
- Rounding out the range is an active bass-reflex tuned R25B subwoofer that employs a 25cm (10″) coated fibre-composite cone driver in a cast aluminium frame and a 750-watt digital amplifier. Volume, Crossover and Phase Controls for a simple and flexible configuration are provided.
Magnetically attached grilles and internal cross-bracing feature throughout. Also when paired with Arcam’s SA35 or SA45 streaming amplifiers, each speaker can be fine-tuned via Arcam’s “anechoic” EQ system.
