Acoustic Sounds Series – Audiophile Jazz Reissues
This is just a quick reminder to all you audiophile jazz fans, in fact any jazz fans, that you can still buy many of the vinyl Acoustic Sounds Series released in 2020 with more to follow in 2021.
Seeking to offer definitive audiophile grade versions of some of the most historic and best jazz records ever recorded, Verve Label Group and Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) new audiophile vinyl reissue series Acoustic Sounds was launched July 31st, 2020. The Acoustic Sounds series featured two releases a month highlighting a different storied label spanning Verve/UMe’s extraordinarily rich archive.
Acoustics Sounds Inc. are responsible for supporting the production and release of this definitive audiophile jazz series. These albums from the Verve Label Group and Universal Music Enterprises’ are being released on the aptly named Acoustics Sounds Series. They are mastered from the original analog master tapes using top mastering engineers including: Kevin Gray of Cohearent, George Marino and Ryan K. Smith, with the releases being mastered at Sterling Sound.

Plus the outstanding vinyl production craft of Quality Record Pressings, where all this series titles are pressed on 180gram vinyl and then packaged by Stoughton Printing Co. in high-quality gatefold sleeves with tip-on jackets.

Chad Kassem, the CEO of Acoustic Sounds is overseeing all aspects of this series production.
As of February 20th, 2021 there are ten albums released with two more scheduled for May 2021. Famous artists in the series currently include: Sara Vaughan, Nina Simone, The Gil Evans Orchestra, Ray Charles, John Coltrane and Louis Armstrong & Oscar Peterson.
I have my pre-order in for The Gil Evans Orchestra – Out Of The Cool, look out for my review in mid May. Don’t wait too long as three releases are already on back-order.
