Acoustic Energy Adds AE320² Speakers – First Look

The British brand Acoustic Energy has added the AE320² floorstanders to the top-end of its 300 series of recently revamped mid-range speakers. Suitable for medium to large sized rooms, the cabinet is available in a choice of walnut or newly developed ‘silk-touch’ matte black or white finishes featuring screen-printed logos with trims and magnetic grilles which are color matched for each finish.

This range uses technology that the company pioneered in its older Reference Series, as well as using trickle-down tweeter technology derived from its flagship Corinium floorstanders. The AE320² is a three-way design that features brand-new paper/coconut-fiber driver designs, one 12cm midrange and two 14cm bass drivers, plus a new 29mm soft dome tweeter. The units are housed within an inert, slimline 18mm constrained-layer RSC™ MDF/bitumen cabinet. The ported design uses a slot shaped duct port on the rear of the speaker to augment the bass output that has been carefully developed to “reduce the effect of air turbulence with a clean, undistorted bass performance”.
Finally, the new AE320² are supplied with aluminum feet and spike covers.
